The ‘Security in East Mediterranean’ Workshop, the first event within the scope of the East Mediterranean Program initiated by the TASAM National Defence and Security Institute and the Near East South Asia Strategic Studies Center (NESA) affiliated to the US Ministry of Defense, is held at Sheraton Istanbul City Center on 17-19 July 2023 with institutional participation of invited official and civil think tanks from the countries of the region.
As it was firstly held in Türkiye in 2015, the 9th of Istanbul Security Conference with the main theme of "Strategic Transformation in the Ecosystem: Climate, Nourishment, Demography, Meritocracy, Economy, Health, Education, Employment, Family-Youth and City Security" will be held by TASAM National Defence and Security Institute (NDSI) in Istanbul on 23-24 November 2023, in the 100th year of the founding of the Republic of Turkey.
Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies (TASAM) and the Institute for Strategic Studies of National Security Council of Mongolia (ISS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement.

Istanbul Security Conference, which took place for the first time in Turkey in 2015, was held under the main theme “Post-Security Geopolitics: China, Russia, India, Japan And NATO”, by TASAM’s National Defence and Security Institute on 04-05 November 2021 in DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Atasehir Hotel & Conference Centre.
On the other hand, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, as an island country (known as Ceylon till 1972) in the Indian Ocean, has an acreage of 65,610 km2, population of over 22 million, GDP of 88.9 billion dolar (2018), and memberships in the international organizations such as ASEAN, CICA, SAARC, WTO etc. The country is a liberal economy, governed by multi-party, democratically elected governments.
There has been a slight recovery from global environmental crisis depending on the relative decrease in industrial activities and transportation services and as a positive result of the world wide-ranging restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the whole world since 2020.
On the other hand, USA is a recognized power in global arena with its acreage, population of over 330 million, development in industrialization and technology, growing economy, natural resources, demographic structure,veto power in the United Nations, position in IMF and NATO.
Mexico with its area of near 2 million km², strategic position in Central America, population of approximately 124 million, human resources, GDP of 1,223 trillion dollars and developing economy is a prominent country. Mexico also is a notable member and observer to many international organizations such as; UN, OAS (Organization of American States), Rio Group, OECD, ANDEAN, SICA (Central American Integration System), G-20, NAFTA.
Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, is a country that attracts the attention of the world with its strategic location connecting Asia to Africa and Mediterranean to Indian Ocean, its leading role in the Arab and Islamic world, 34 million dynamic population, natural resources, 20% share in the proven oil reserves of the world, economic potential that it has thanks to its tourism and human resources, its activities in the international organizations.
