GENERAL FRAMEWORK

TASAM Internship Program aims to support participants to gain academic study skills, to develop existing skills and abilities in areas such as information gathering, communication and access to resources. It is the mutual goal to make interns who will be considered in existing study areas of TASAM, good researchers. Interns support TASAM activities and works of experts.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Those who want to do a long/short-term internship at TASAM; especially those who want to work in the fields of foreign policy, economy, security, defense, diplomacy, energy, nuclear energy and will take part in projects/programs to be carried out on Türkiye 2053 and BRAINS2 Türkiye ('Biotechnology', 'Robotics', 'Artificial Intelligence', 'Nanotechnology', 'Space' and 'Strategic Services'), Kızılelma Türkiye Strategic Transformation Program, Civil Global Program, Istanbul Security Conference/School, Istanbul Economics Congress/School, World Turkic Forum, World Islamic Forum, Public Diplomacy and Political Communication; PhD, master's or third/fourth year undergraduate students of Universities can apply. Considering the activities of TASAM, candidates, graduate or current student, who have academic interest and knowledge in different disciplines from social sciences in various disciplines such as International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Economics, Business, Communication, and Translation departments with knowledge and interest in academics can apply.

Foreign language knowledge and academic qualifications of the candidates should be at an appropriate level (B2 and above) to the international effort.

SHORT TERM INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERNS

TASAM interns make academic research and office work in TASAM units and affiliated Institutions. The program does not cover only one of these duties. Office work covers support (preliminary research, contacting, transcription, translation, etc.) for the activity agenda (conferences, meetings, forums, etc.).

Interns;

- Fulfill the tasks assigned to them from TASAM management or advisor of the trainee.

- Agree with abiding with the rules of TASAM during internship period.

- Interns adapt working hours and contribution call.

- Each intern is obliged to prepare a text/article about predetermined topic in the scope of their study area and an analysis study of a book published by TASAM Publications (This paper should be prepared with assigned advisor controlling academic and formal requirements for publishing the work on the TASAM portal.) and complete the academic internship program and present these studies to the relevant experts at the end of the program.

The duration of the Short Term Internship Program is 18 working days. The weekly attendance period in the program is adjusted as a minimum of 2 days, according to the intern's request.

DUTIES OF TASAM

Institution ensures carrying out the Internship Program Framework and academic contributions of trainees.

ADVISOR

- Advisor helps the intern to prepare the required paper.

- Advisor follows the development of the intern and makes recommendations about her/him to the TASAM management.

- Advisors can give other task than stated.

- TASAM management can also add new activities to the internship program apart from the studies conducted with the advisor.

ACHIEVEMENT AND CERTIFICATE

All interns who successfully complete the program, if deemed appropriate by the advisor and TASAM management, are entitled to receive the “TASAM Internship Certificate“.


LONG TERM INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Long Term Internship Program, which covers the responsibilities and duties of the Short Term Internship Program, aims to train interns with an Event/Conference focus.

In addition to the “TASAM Internship Certificate“ at the end of the Program; in case of successful fulfillment of the assigned tasks; takes place in the relevant Event/Conference team and is entitled to receive the "Event/Conference Team Certificate". In the following processes, they are also taken into consideration to work at TASAM on a part- or full-time basis.

Within the scope of the Long-Term Internship Program, a 45-day academic internship program is prepared for the field that the intern wants to specialize in. Article/film/book analyzes that will be checked weekly are included in this academic program.

Again, in addition to the academic program, weekly/daily studies are given within the scope of the Event/Conference, and job follow-up is carried out.

The duration of the long-term internship program is 45 working days. The weekly attendance period in the program is adjusted to a minimum of 3 days, according to the intern's request.

APPLICATION

Applications are made via email and sent to verdasensoy@tasam.org. "Long/Short Term Internship Program Application" should be written in the subject line of the e-mail.

According to the result of the interview that will take place after the application, the acceptance decision is taken about the candidate.

Candidates can also be evaluated outside of the requested period, depending on the situation in the intern quota.
Interns are accepted into the program for a long or short term. The duration is evaluated during the interview with the candidates.

Previously involved studies in the field and academic/professional references should be specified.
